Abstract

Sleep plays a fundamental role in an athlete's recovery and performance, and therefore must be considered by the various professionals involved in their training, as it guarantees their health and performance. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the influence of sleep quality on the athletic performance of 25 male and female futsal players from the "Fernando de Aragón Educational Unit" in the U13 and U14 categories. The research was conducted using a quantitative, correlational, and descriptive approach, with the objective of analyzing the relationship between sleep quality and athletic performance in selected players from this institution, focusing on sleep as an essential element in the physical, cognitive, and emotional recovery processes of athletes. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire was used in this study, and the results were compared with performance variables such as endurance (Course Navette), strength (vertical jump), speed (20-meter sprint), and agility (Reactive Agility Test). The analysis conducted in futsal, especially in intermediate categories, provides relevant information for the implementation of programs that promote good sleep hygiene, fostering overall well-being and sustainable athletic performance, while also considering the influence of external factors such as stress and emotional problems.
