Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze the gender differences that are considered by credit executives for the approval of microcredits in the financial cooperatives of segment 1 of the city of Latacunga. A structured survey was applied to a sample of 60 credit executives. The results indicated that gender has a significant impact on credit approval decisions, that is, women face less favorable conditions compared to their male counterparts. This suggests that there are gender biases that negatively affect equity in the distribution of financial resources. However, gender is a crucial element in making the decision to approve microcredits. Although attempts are made to maintain neutral practices, underlying gender, age, and income biases significantly influence the process, therefore, policies must be established that promote a fair and equitable approach in the cooperative financial system.
