Resumo
O objetivo desta pesquisa é a implementação de estratégias de leitura intensiva para melhorar a compreensão de leitura na sala de aula de inglês como língua estrangeira. As atividades em sala de aula foram elaboradas devido ao baixo nível de compreensão de leitura dos alunos. Trata-se de um método de pesquisa quantitativa com um projeto quase experimental. Dois grupos de alunos responderam a uma pesquisa para avaliar suas percepções sobre a compreensão de leitura. Depois disso, tanto o grupo de controle quanto o experimental fizeram um pré-teste. Em seguida, o grupo experimental participou de uma intervenção em sala de aula com foco na aplicação de estratégias de leitura intensiva para melhorar sua compreensão de leitura. Em seguida, a população-alvo fez um pós-teste e os resultados foram analisados para comparar a melhoria na compreensão de leitura dos alunos antes e depois do tratamento. Após o tratamento presencial, conclui-se que as estratégias de leitura intensiva são eficazes para melhorar a compreensão de leitura; portanto, sugere-se aplicá-las para apoiar o aluno em sua jornada de aprendizado da língua inglesa.
