Resumo
Este artigo de pesquisa descreve um estudo qualitativo realizado com 14 alunos do último ano do ensino médio atualmente matriculados no programa de Diploma de Bacharelado Internacional em uma instituição educacional particular em Cuenca, Equador. O objetivo deste artigo é explorar o impacto da educação baseada em questões de justiça social no desenvolvimento da comunicação oral na sala de aula de inglês como língua estrangeira. Como parte do processo, foi essencial analisar as percepções e experiências dos participantes como componentes integrais do aprendizado de idiomas. Os dados obtidos foram coletados em duas fases. Primeiro, foi aplicado um questionário composto de seis perguntas para explorar as percepções dos alunos sobre o assunto em questão. Na segunda fase, foi realizada uma discussão com a intervenção de um grupo de foco com cinco alunos, o que permitiu que eles compartilhassem abertamente seus pontos de vista sobre o tema dessa exploração. Dessa forma, ficou evidente que os tópicos relacionados à justiça social tiveram um impacto positivo no desenvolvimento da comunicação oral do aluno e que constituíram uma abordagem de aprendizado útil para que os alunos aumentassem seu conhecimento de inglês. Os resultados obtidos com o presente estudo visam melhorar o ensino da língua inglesa em diferentes níveis e, consequentemente, fortalecer o desenvolvimento da comunicação oral em sala de aula.
