Pre- Sports Games in children’s psychomotor Development

Abstract

The present research work “Pre-sports games in psychomotor development in children” aims to determine the influence of pre-sports games in the psychomotor development of fifth-grade children of the Sultana de los Andes Educational Unit, in the Cumandá canton, province of Chimborazo, during the period 2024-2025. The type of research was descriptive, quasi-experimental, because it is based on the collection of data before and after the intervention using a pre- and post-test design. The study sample is made up of 40 students. This type of sampling was selected due to the accessibility of the participants and the available resources. It is an appropriate methodology for exploratory studies such as the present one, in which we seek to obtain a preliminary understanding of the effects of pre-sports games on the psychomotor development of students. The results according to the 3JS test show that their psychomotor abilities are low, which is why a guide to pre-sports game exercises is important that encourages the improvement of psychomotor development in children, to improve their motor, affective, cognitive and social development. The results of the pre- and post-test show a significant improvement in the motor development of the participants, with an average increase of 7.17 points, going from 14.55 to 21.7. This generalized improvement suggests that the intervention applied has had a positive impact on the group’s psychomotor skills, highlighting that the majority of students showed significant progress.
