Sustainability strategies in older adults with disabilities for social inclusion and integral development

Abstract

The present research conducts an analysis of sustainability strategies in older adults with disabilities for social inclusion and integral development. To meet this objective, a quantitative methodology is applied with a descriptive and applicative approach, since bibliographic research is conducted on the main concepts of sustainability in the care of older adults with disabilities and their measurement models, and the main indicators are identified to develop a data collection instrument for a numerical analysis of them in two public entities, specifically in the GAD Municipal de Paute and the GAD Parroquial de Chican. Among the main results obtained, it was evidenced that the evaluated entities present unsatisfactory averages in terms of disease identification indicators and the assurance of the development of social life to minimize the perception of loneliness. Likewise, an intervention proposal was presented to ensure sustainable development in terms of social inclusion of older adults in the region. Among the main conclusions, it became evident that governmental organizations should improve their management in terms of strategic plans for the timely detection of geriatric diseases and training for appropriate personnel. It was also found that improvements should be made in management models to maintain an active social life and prevent social isolation in older adults with disabilities.
